Ration Distribution at Himalaya Old Age Home

Himalaya Old Age Home is a community organization established in 2061 B.S. by a women community with a pure intention of helping elderly and to construct a building to look after them. There are three founders of this home namely, Sarala Panthi, Binda Poudel and Sobha Sapkota who started the old age home with a concept of getting small help from every household. The main aim of the organization is to rescue, support and fulfill all the basic needs of elderly people along with providing healthy food, good health and other requirements. There are around 47 elderly, two women who were the victim of domestic violence and their children who are taken care by Himalaya Old Age Home. Those people, who are homeless and has nobody to look after are either rescued by police or by the members themselves. The elderly living under one roof has different health conditions which is looked after by the organization. They have been getting support from different people and organizations who comes there on different occasions and supports them as per the necessities.

As Manav Sewa Foundation, Nepal has always been committed to help elderly people who are economically and socially deprived, the foundation team conducted a program to  distribute ration to the old age home. The main objective to conduct this program was to support the organization who has been selflessly and dedicatedly looking after the elderly despite facing many challenges and hurdles. The program was conducted on February 9, 2022 and since it was an old age home we tried to keep the program simple and informal. Rather, we got a chance to communicate with elderly and listen to their stories. Since there are different people with different state of mind and health we managed to communicate with some who could share their feelings. We also had a conversation with the founders who were very thankful to the organization for the support.
