Education Support

Ganesh B.K. is a government school teacher from Palpa, Purba khola Rural Municipality – 5 Birkot, named Ganapati Madhyamik Bidyalaya. He teaches Health, Social and Nepali to the students from the last 2 years. During a staff meeting he came to know about two children  who are orphan and are in need of help. Earlier he had no idea about those children, but during discussion with teachers in the meeting, Ganesh Sir came to know about those children. While having a phone conversation with us, he gave us the information that he had about the children.

Sujal Sinjali is from palpa who lost his both parents about eight years ago. He is studying in grade 9. His mother died after being unable to give birth to her second child, which caused over bleeding due to which she couldn’t survive. After the death of his mother, sujal’s father also committed suicide. After that incident, Sujal has been living under his relative’s guidance(Thulobuwa). His guardian is also financially weak so it is very difficult for them to sustain a proper living. Their only source of income is through weekly business and the money they earn is hardly sufficient for their living. According to Ganesh Sir, there is a practice of sending these kind of boys to India for earning money. So there is high chance of Sujal to be sent to India for employment.

There is another girl from  the same valley who has also lost her parents few years back. Her name is Tirkha Sinjali and she is studying in  grade 6. She has been living on her own and is doing all her household chores by herself. Her relatives also didn’t give much attention to her so she is the only person who has been working to sustain and continuing her studies. According to Ganesh Sir, there is a chance of child marriage of girl like Tirkha as there is nobody to look after her and take care of her.

Due to this reason, Ganesh Sir was asking if there is anything that our organisation could do to help these children. Upon asking what kind of help he was expecting, his reply was to provide scholarship to these children and giving the guardianship to the school so that the school could take full responsibility of  their education and other help the children needs. As per him, there has not been a single help from any other organisation to those children till date. So he took the responsibility to find such organisations that can help those children as they are very deprived and are  in a poor condition.

In this way, with the focus on organisational objective the case of Sujal Sinjali and Tirkha Sinjali were looked after under the Project Pahilo Paila. They are given three months of educational support which will be helping them to get proper education without worrying about financial problem and also they will not have to withdraw from their school because of that reason. Since education helps them to get skills, they will help in breaking the cycle of poverty through that education which will help them in getting better opportunities in future. So providing those children with educational materials and tuition fee will help them get out of their poverty zone. Due to this reason those children’s should be supported not only for three months but at least for the period of completing their education. Otherwise they will have to rethink about their education and also it will create more risk for them in either getting married or end up going to another countries for employment. This will put them in high risk zone of getting trafficked as well.
